FAQs

What size skips do you have?

We have mini skips, midi skips, maxi skips and jumbo skips, ranging from 2 cubic yards to 14 cubic yards.

What areas do you work in?

We are based in Merstham and we are focused on operating within 15 to 20 miles of this location. This encompasses Crawley, Reigate, Redhill, Banstead, Horley, Dorking and many other nearby areas.

Do you drop off and collect the skips?

Yes, full drop-off and collection is provided as standard. We also dispose of all the contents of your skip according to all environmental standards and regulations.

Who do you work with?

We at Taylors Skip Hire are happy to provide skips to all kinds of people and organisations, including households, businesses, councils, local authorities, schools, construction companies, factory owners and more. No job is too big or small for the Surrey skip rental experts.

Where can I put the skip?

You can put your skip on any private land you are permitted to. To put a skip on roadways or any land you do not own or rent may require local authority permission. If you plan to place the skip on public land, such as a road or pavement, we can help you obtain the necessary permit. Just let us know when you book.

What can I put in the skip?

Please do not put any hazardous materials into a standard skip. Hazardous materials should only be put in specialist skips. Our standard skips are suitable for rubble, garden waste, building debris, household rubbish, scrap metal and other non-hazardous materials. Our what rubbish can I put in a skip guide goes into further detail. Skips can only handle certain products, and some items will need professional disposal. Asbestos and clinical waste doesn't belong in a skip - but rubble and household waste is fine!

How long can I keep my skip for?

There is no restriction on the length of time you can keep your skip for. The standard skip rental period is 14 days; after that there will be an additional charge. Please contact us for bespoke quotes.

Do I need to be at home or in the property to receive the skip?

We require full access to deliver the skip, so please be mindful of any gates or secure car parks. However, you do not have to be at home to receive the skip, provided there is adequate access and payment has been received. This also applies to collections.

What is considered as hazardous waste?

Hazardous waste includes but is not limited to asbestos, electronics, lead acid batteries, florescent tubing, refrigerators, freezers, clinical waste, tyres, gas cylinders, explosives, paint, glue, oil and animal waste. These should not be put in our standard skips. Please read our guide 'what can I put in a skip' for more information.

Should I tell the council I am hiring a skip?

Although you will only have to tell the council about skip hire if you are siting the skip on public land, it's a good idea to notify them anyway. Check out our skip permits guide for more information.

How wide does a driveway have to be to fit a skip?

Ideally, we need about 10ft for the skip wagon to drop off the skip. If you don't have enough space, let us know and we'll come up with a solution.

What size skip do I need?

The most popular skip size is the builders' skip. Please check out our skip size hiring guide for more information.

What will be done with my rubbish?

When we remove rubbish, we ensure that it is disposed of in accordance in all environmental standards and regulations. We will process your waste at an authorised distribution centre. Please let us know if you require any specific information about the disposal of your waste before we begin the disposal!

How high can I fill my skip?

Please do not fill skips so there is a pile in the centre of the skip that exceeds the height of the sides of the skip. Skips should be filled so they are levelled. When we collect the skip, we may put a 'skip lid' on it, which fits perfectly over the skip, provided it is not overfilled. Find out about the risks of overloading skips here

Can I request specific delivery and collection times?

Yes, we will try to accommodate any specific delivery and collection times. Please note that we may be unable to reach you at your specific times due to other delivery requirements, traffic and other factors outside of our control. However we will take your requests into consideration when planning our delivery and collection routes.

Can I arrange for same-day skip delivery and collection?

Yes, just let us know your requirements and we'll endeavour to meet them, providing we have the skips you need at the time you need them.

Can you provide rubbish removal and site clearance services?

Yes. We offer rubbish removal and site clearance services in addition to skip hire. Our team can help you clear and dispose of waste from your property or construction site, quickly and efficiently.

Can you help me load the skip?

Yes. Please arrange in advance so we can find the required staffing.
